How QR scanner works?

QR scanners are used for scanning QR codes which are square filled with encrypted data. The code system was invented in 1994.

it can able to scan two types of QR codes

  • Linear: Linear barcode typically holds any type of text information

  • 2D barcode :  2D barcode is more complex information such as URLs, images and advertisement.

The QR scanner consists of three components,

  •  Illuminator
  • Sensor
  • Decoder


The illuminator, illuminates some narrow beam of light to the Barcode area, and reflect the signal to the sensor.


Sensor in the scanner, detects the reflected beam and send analog signal to the decoder.


Decoder validates the signal and encode the data.
